I believe that family dysfunction is away that God strengthen his people so that others will know how powerful he is. Family never wants to see the change a person makes. Jeremiah states that God has a plan for the Believer life (paraphrased) but if the Believer follow the blueprint living a balanced life wouldn't be as hard.

I like the part where you say that you can't teach what you haven't learned or lived. Believers have to have a open heart when God reveals their weakness also. Denial can be an enemy to the Christian walk. We have to take everything that God has written and live accordingly.
