DISCUSSION FORUM » Difference between talents vs being chosen

Yashica Butler
I believe everyone is created with talents, some more than others. Not everyone will choose to use their talents to please the Lord, especially in the secular world. I don't believe all of our talents will always be used in calling, though some may. Talents are passion driven and being chosen by God is spiritually driven. As stated in the video not everyone is called to the five fold ministry. Throughout scripture epecially between Matthew and Acts, we hear of many that were a part of the body of Christ but there were specific people whom was chosen by God that they may demonstrate His very existence, mercy, grace, power, love, and forgiveness. These people's names and deeds stood out all through scripture from the old testament to the new testament.
Many are called, yes, God's heart desires that none of us should perish, but there are those that God knows that He can trust to endure the process and be totally sold out to Him and I believe that those people are His chosen.

I understand talents to be natural abilities that one is born with as embedded into them by God. However, being called bespeaks being handpicked by God and processed by Him for a specific task or tasks. Notwithstanding, talents when consecrated to God and to His service also become very valuable to one's calling. An example given in the video is the first 40 years of Moses' life in the house of Pharaoh. It was during those years that he learnt administration, leadership and structural management. The second 40 years as a shepherd at the backside of the desert also helped him learn what it meant to be a shepherd and to take care of the flock. Studying the life and ministry of Moses one begins to appreciate how all the things Moses went through were part of God's process so as to shape and design him according to the divine assignment and and calling upon his life.

It is needful to also note that some may have talents whilst God hasn't really chosen them for certain task. Also, some may even have talents and miss God's timing and design, hence the need to allow God to guide and lead one in their calling so that as they are proven (processed) by God then they may be released to their divine assignment and function.
