6-2 CULTS & WORLD RELIGION » My encounter with a former Christian

Paula Bingham
The three scriptures I would use to convince a former Christian to come back to Christ is: First, Matthew 18: 19-20, If anyone among you wanders from the truth, and someone turns him back, let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins. I would let my brother or sister know that my trying to convince him to return to Christ is simply an attempt to bring him back to the truth and save his soul from hell. The second scripture I would use is John 14:6, where Jesus declares that I am the way, the truth, and the life. This scripture emphasizes Christ's role as the only path to God, the embodiment of divine truth, and the source of eternal life. Without Christ, there is no other way. It emphasizes that salvation and access to God can only be achieved through Him, and that Jesus embodies the absolute truth, which rejects any alternative routes, philosophies or religions. Christ is the only source of eternal life. The third scripture I would use is 1 Timothy 4:1, Now the Spirit speaks expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils. With this scripture, I would give warning about the time we are living in when some people will abandon their faith and follow misleading teachings influenced by evil spirits or demons.

The three demonic spirits influencing this former brother or sister is: One, a seducing spirit. A seducing spirit is often described as an evil influence aimed at drawing believers into compromising situations that contradict their faith. Second, would be a Spirit of Deception which refers to a spiritual influence that leads individuals away from the truth, often manifesting as falsehood and manipulation, particularly in a biblical context. And third is a Spirit of false religion, which is characterized by:
worship of anything that is not God, failure to do justice to the glory and majesty of God, replacing a genuine relationship with God with works and traditions and attempting to earn salvation through nonbiblical beliefs and custom.

Scripture tells us that we are to speak the truth in love and I get that sense from the scriptures you chose and the justification given. These encounters should not surprise us and God gave us sound doctrine and scriptures along with the Holy Spirit to bring them back. It is a choice to be saved or go to hell which you so eloquently stated. Great job!

The points you brought out Paula explains a lot to me it is a very clear message of how to lead a former Christian back to Christ. The demonic spirits really do line up with your message. They have been deceived also seduced into a false religion.
