4-1 LIFE OF CHRIST » The Importance of the Humanity of Christ

Kristy Hammond
The humanity of Christ is important because God knew we would need an example that we could connect with. This week I attended a Trauma Healing Class and it was so impactful. One of the things that resonated with me the most is Mark 6: 30-31. The scripture says 30 The apostles gathered around Jesus and reported to him all they had done and taught. 31 Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest. Jesus, even in the midst of the work, encouraged the apostles to rest. This is a great example that if the Savior needed rest, I must rest as well.
Another example of why His humanity is important is because we needed someone who could take our place with sin and death. I John 3:8, For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. He died as man for man.

Your post is so powerful, and I love the way you connected Christ’s humanity to our own real life need for rest and renewal. Mark 6:30â€31 is such a beautiful reminder that Jesus did not just teach principles, He modeled them. The fact that the Savior Himself paused, stepped away, and invited His disciples to rest shows us that caring for our physical and emotional well-being is not weakness but obedience. If Jesus, fully God yet fully human recognized the limits of the human body, then we should honor those limits as well.
