Ministry and the IRS » Administration in Ministry

Luke 16:10 says, If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities. While you may not be an expert, in my opinion all sides of the ministry are important to have knowledge and understanding. You can always hire and have volunteer staff who are more trained and have an understanding. As the leader you need to know how all areas fit together and function so you can better understand and communicate the needs more effectively. Understanding the administrative sides also lets you collaborate with others and gives you an advantage of not being misguided and taken advantage of. Proverbs 27:33-34 states, Know the state of your flocks, and put your heart into caring for your herds, for riches do not last forever, and the crown might not be passed to the next generation. Ministry is both spiritual and practical and when you operate properly you honor God, protect the integrity of the church, and allow the Gospel to be shared purely.

2 commentsKristy, this is a thoughtful and wise reflection on the need for balanced leadership in ministry—one that honors both the spiritual and practical responsibilities of shepherding God's people. You've woven Scripture effectively to support the idea that faithful stewardship, knowledge, and practical involvement are essential for integrity and longevity in ministry. Great post.

Tawanna TabornKristy, I like the explanation you gave by using Luke 16:10, we have to have faith and be faithful in small things in order to be faithful in great things. I'm reminded of our papers we did on people of the gospel in history. I had William Seymore and the Azusa Street Revival. He was praying and preaching and thought he had some good honest people on his administrative team, and they stole all of his contacts, and he lost most of his followers, he became a pastor over a small group of people. we have to be careful and pray and watch at all times, mostly be leaded by Holy Spirit who gives us insight on the things we should or should not do, the people we should or should not have over things.
