Ministry and the IRS » Understanding the Administrative side of Ministry

The administrative part of the ministry is very important and must be handled by honest, God-fearing people. In Exodus 18:17-22 Jethro Moses father in-law told him this is a good thing that you are doing but you going to wear yourself out and these people, letting him know this is not good. Moses had to choose him some men to help him with this. The administration side of the ministry is more than accounting and taxes; its order you have to have order to flow as God would have the ministry to operate. In Acts 6: 1-4 there were murmuring and complaints of the Grecians against the Hebrews, they were letting Stephen know that their widows were being neglected. The disciples were saying it's not good for them to leave preaching and teaching the Word of God to serve tables, so they choose seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom to put over these affairs.

3 commentsMs. Sandra you are on point! Using wisdom to not try to carry everything on your own shoulders is key. I love the scripture reference from Exodus that there are roles in the body of Christ, may leaders and laborers. Do things decent and in order lines up with the Word of God.

Vanessa HowellMs. Sandra, thanks for sharing your post. What resonated with me was the point when you said ministry must flow within order. I totally agree with this. I remember being in a church and a raffle fundraiser was being conducted and the term Godly gambling was used. While innocent from the announcer's mouth this could cause much unnecessary confusion.

Kristy HammondMs. Sandra I totally agree with you on the importancy of how administrative tasks/duties are handled with integrity ( handeled honeslty) and being God - fearing. I too discussed Moses father -in-law, Jethro and how he advised Moses to delegate certain tasks to capable people to get the job done in the correct manner. Exodus 18:17-26 Thank you for reminding us that in order to have order, we need to flow as God would have us flow. We should acknowledge Him in ALL things and He shall direct our paths as written in the book of Proverbs, even in administration aspects of the church. God bless you Ms. Sandra!
