COURSE 27 - MINISTRY ETHICS & ETIQUETTE » Major Ethical hinderance in the Church

I believe there are many things that causes Ministers of the gospel to look and behave like the world. One that stands out to me is they don't want to lose members and other clergy friends but they want to(save face) not to embarrass themselves so, they allow some worldly things into the church like: certain songs that are supposed to be gospel but is made up from the sounds of blues songs or r&b songs, certain praise dances that are not appropriate for church service, using their position as the minister for personal gain like: wealth and fame over the need to preach and teach the people spiritual principles. The scripture in 2 Corinthians 6:17 says Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.
I know ethical conduct deals with moral principles that guide an individual's behavior. They would have to make the right choice not wrong choice on how to behave and conduct themselves. These things can cause the Ministers to struggle with their calling to serve God and lead his people, this will also cause them to have poor judgment and poor decision-making. Ministers have to apply Proverbs 3:5-6 it tells us, Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lead not to your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your path straight. The focus must stay on the will of God and the word of God and be very care to do his will and walk in his way. Proverbs 14:12 states, there is a way which seemeth right to a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

3 commentsMs. Sandra thanks for sharing your thoughts. This is so true that many do not want to lose members, which ultimately loses funds that they allow worldly things and do not hold others accountable. The word of God is real and that is what should be preached.

Ms. Sandra, you cut right through the chase[ and exposed the truth for what it truly is... yes, ministers, for popularity reasons among the circle of members feel the need to please or keep happy takes precedence over pleasing God. I agree with you and like how you explained that some ministers want to mimic the world's standards by using familiar tunes/songs to make things more relatable/more familiar to the congregation ... which is not how God wants us, as ministers to relate to the congregations. The shepherd must lead his or her flock in the right manner. The scripture you shared was perfect, 2 Corinthians 6:17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you. Also, believers, especially ministers, should always strive to renew our minds. Romans 12:2-3 (KJV) And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God.

Sandra, in some ways the World has crept into the church. Many believers have compromised to gain followers and remain worldly relevant. Holiness is right. The bible says in 1 Peter 1:16 to Be ye Holy for He is Holy! We are to be set apart for the master's use. Scripture says in John 17, Be ye in the World but not of the World. We should look, act, talk and walk differently than the World. They should see us and know who we belong to. Being popular does not make us look favorable to God. A local minister once said something quite profound during service; He said, The Lord is the only one that can fire you and still allow you to remain working! Meaning, God can still use your gift but your soul be doomed for Hell. The bible says in Matthew 7:23 - 26, Not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
