COURSE 26 - SERMON PREPARATION » II Timothy 3:16 x Doctrine

I have always resonated with the verse, II Timothy 3:16. My focus is on doctrine. The Scriptures are a means for teaching and instructing about the character of God and His will. Psalm 119:105, says, Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. This shows how the Bible is our guide for learning and life. Proverbs 4:2 says,For I give you good doctrine: do not forsake my law. God calls His teachings good doctrine and instructs us to follow it. Doctrine is the foundation of Biblical truth. Doctrine equips the preacher to teach truth and the hearer to live truth. Doctrine ensures that what is taught aligns with God's truth, not one's personal opinion. The preacher must study, live by, and rightly divide the Word to share accurate truth with God’s people (Titus 2:1). Doctrine allows the hearer to grow in faith. Sound doctrine transforms the heart and mind, leading to righteous living (Romans 6:17).

2 commentsDoctrine really does equip the preacher to teach and the hearer to live truth Kristy, such a great analogy. It is a solid foundation from which to build and grow as we follow in the footsteps of Jesus.

Vanessa HowellYou have made the Doctrine so clear. It is to help the preacher teach and instruct Gods people. The preacher must study, live it and rightly divide the word of truth. it reminds me of the scripture in 2 Timothy 2:15; Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. Thank you, Kristy you pulled so much out for Doctrine and equally had something for Preacher vs Hearer.
