COURSE 20 - MINISTRY GIFT OF EVANGELIST » Work of an Evangelist

I believe that the work of the Evangelist is developed in the church, because all believers have to be trained, and all believers are instructed to do the work of an evangelist. According to the scripture in 2 Timothy 4:5 which tells us, but watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry. I understand that this means for me that I need to keep a clear mind, clam about all situations endure every hardship without reacting out of character. Fulfilling my duties as an evangelist means that my relationship with the Father has to be intimate and real in doing so we can reconcile other back to God through our relationship with Christ, in 2Corinthians 5:18.

3 commentsThank you for sharing your thoughts Ms. Sandra. I definitely believe as an Evangelist our life is on display. So when you said, I can't react out of character that really resonated with me. Many can be saved based on the Jesus they see us display everyday.

Kristy HammondThank you Sandra and I'm so grateful that the Holy Spirit can train us as well how to evangelize and do other things. In Acts 2:4 it talks about how everyone was filled with the Spirit and speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance. As we get outside of the church doors there are so many saints to be saved and to reach to share the good news of Christ! If we all sought to save at least one soul a day what a mighty win that would be for Christ!

Ms. Sandra, you referenced the scripture 2 Timothy 4:5, that charges us ALL, to do the WORK of an Evangelist! I love and share your strong conviction and belief, that this work is developed in the church. The church is the training ground, the base camp if you will, for the soldiers of the Army of Lord! To be trained to go out into all of the world and make disciples (the Great Commission Matthew 28:18-20). This means bringing people into the cause of God's mission. Sharing the good news that JESUS IS THE WAY THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE (John 14:6). One can only feel excited and humbled, that he or she is a part of the body of Christ, building up the Kingdom of God! It takes all of us, as you stated, taking time to spend time with God, having a real and intimate relationship with Him. We can share the Gospel, so much more effectively, by sharing our own experience of our transformation by the power of the Holy Spirit! Ms. Sandra, you truly have the heart of an Evangelist, as it is evident in all of your responses, thus far as well as the ministry you and your husband share. Builders of the Kingdom, giving to the community and sharing the Gospel - truly His hands and feet! God bless you, Hope.
