COURSE 18 - MINISTRY GIFT OF PASTOR » Pastoral Lack

Kristy Hammond
The ministry gift of the Pastor is vital for the health and growth of the church, as it reflects the heart of Jesus, nurturing, feeding, and protecting the flock, but many lack in this area. In my opinion, many enter the role without a divine appointment, therefore there is a lack of anointing and spiritual calling.. Ephesians 4:11-12, references the importance of the call for effective work of the ministry. Another lack for the role of the Pastor is that they fail to shepherd people holistically. The role is more than preaching, but it also involves being actively involved in the lives of their congregants. There can be a disconnect or a focus on more administrative tasks and church growth. I Peter 5: 2-3, emphasizes pastoral responsibility. It says, Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over themâ€not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock. Another area can be lack of proper training or support. This can create harmful and ineffective environments. Titus 1: 7-9 discusses how a Pastor should be qualified for the role.

Kristy, that is correct! Some Pastors have not been called, they just went. Sure, there is much fame and recognition that comes with that role; however, if one has not been predestined, ordained, justified and called into that position, according to Romans 8:30, failure is sure to follow. God cannot get the glory out of someone He has not put a stamp of approval on. Scripture says in John 15:5 says, Without God we can do nothing. Without His presence, His anointing and His grace upon a person, you will just operate in flesh. Charisma does not bring about salvation, healing or deliverance.

Kristy, you are so right the role of a pastor is crucial for the church's health and growth, requiring divine calling, holistic care for congregants, and proper training. Without these, the pastoral ministry can become ineffective or harmful. And just like your reference scripture Ephesians 4:12 this scripture speaks to the equipping of the saints and when that is not established the church suffers.
Sandra Lately
this is a true statement; I'm reminded of the scripture in Romans 10:14-that says How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? it has to be an anointing and spiritual calling of God. After being called by God they need to be taught the word of God and how to teach it.
