A former Christian that says they still believes that God is real but has converted to an occult sect will take some prayers before even talking with the individual. I will start off praying asking God to give me the words to say and let the individual have a receiving heart. Also, I would ask the Lord to saturate the atmosphere. The first scripture I would start with would be John 14:6, Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. The second one would be Deuteronomy 32:17, states They sacrificed to false gods, which are not God. Thirdly, Isaiah 45:5, states, I am the Lord, and there is none else, there is no God besides me: I girded thee, though thou has not known me. lastly, 1John 4:1, states, Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. The demonic spirits that are influencing this person are perverse spirit, spirit of haughtiness, and the spirit of error.

I agree with you about praying first and asking God for the words to speak to the individual. This man needs deliverance from those deceptive spirits.
