COURSE 15 - GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT » Gifts of the Spirit of God in the Church

We are to serve others with our gifts to edify one another and show God's love. The word says in Ephesians 4:11-12 that our gifts are for the equipping of the saints for the work of the ministry, for edifying of the body of Christ. Our gifts are not for ourselves but to help one another especially in the church that God may be glorified. Many times people come to the church wounded and looking for healing of their heart and spirits, seeking God's face for relief. We can use use our gifts like exhortation to encourage and evangelism to share about the gospel and the right way to go according to the word of God. In Matthew 20:28a it says that the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve. I believe the gifts are to be used to serve each other and to help one another draw closer to Jesus.

3 commentsThese are very key points and is executed nicely. All believers have different gifts and also different callings in Ephesians 4:11says, And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers. With all of these comes the gifts of the Spirit. These statements bring to mind the scripture in Romans 12:4 that reminds us that. For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office, it goes on to give reference to Ephesians 4:11-12.

Sandra LatelyVanessa thank you for sharing your thoughts. I agree that our gifts are not for us, but they are for others and the building up of the kingdom. We are to use our gifts for God's glory so that others will desire to know the one in whom we believe. We must be servants and not have the desire to serve.

Kristy HammondVanessa you are so right you have touched on so many people story coming into the body of Christ and seeking healing in areas of their life. Like your scripture stated in Matthew 20:28 Son of Man did not come to be serve but, to serve and be a servant to others. Leading with Love as we draw close to Jesus. This is a great post.
