COURSE 14 - SO YOU THINK YOU'RE CALLED » Calling of God

Within the Body of Christ Believers the call of God can be a topic that brings debate and discussion. Everyone's experience is and will be different. It can be based on one's understanding, experiences, personality, and God's ultimate purpose and plan. Regardless of how and why someone might be called, the calling is a divine appointment to be a part of God's work and fullment of His kingdom purposes.
God Himself is the one who calls. The Bible tells us that God calls individuals according to His purpose (Romans 8:28). When someone calls themselves into ministry or service, without a true conviction from the Holy Spirit, it can lead to frustration, burnout, and no fruit. This call is rooted in personal goals rather than divine purpose. Jesus said, You will know them by their fruits (Matthew 7:16). A God calling is marked by humility, fruitfulness, endurance, and alignment with Scripture.

3 commentsAmen Kristy! You hit the nail on the head. Some will try to substitute God for their calling because it is a position they themselves want but if God did not ordain it then it won't work. God's word says in Deuteronomy 32:6, Do you thus deal with the Lord, O foolish and unwise people? Is He not your Father, who bought you? Has He not made you and established you? It is foolish not to submit to God and not follow his obedience at to when and what you are called to. You were correct when you said the calling is a divine appointment and God sets that time, not man.

Vanessa HowellKristy, this is such a great way to communicate being called and yes, I agree that the Holy spirit is the driving force behind understanding if you are being called. 1 Corinthians 12:28 says And God hath set some in the church, first apostles secondly prophets, thirdly teachers after that miracle, then gifts of healing help government s diversities of tongues.

Tawanna TabornYes Kristy, God himself is the one who calls. The bible says in Romans 8:5 that those he predestined, he also called; and those he called, he also justified; and those he justified, he also glorified. We must not be anxious about the call of God, but submit ourselves to His will. God will be the one to take care of all the details, our job is only to trust and obey. The bible says in Poverbs 3: 5-6, Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding in all your ways submit to him, and he will direct our path.
