COURSE 11 - CHRISTIAN ROOT SYSTEM » Spiritual Growth

Accepting Jesus as Lord is a big step. One of the important things to maintain and cause growth as a Christian is developing time reading and studying God’s word. As a new believer all things may be new such as memorizing scripture, understanding God’s character, God’s commands, and an overview of the Bible. You must learn through spending time in God’s word. 2 Timothy 2:15 says Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a worker who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth. New believers must get the word of God in their heart and apply it to their everyday lives. Psalm 119:11 says, I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. You can learn to trust God by knowing who He is. Matthew 6:33 says But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well and Psalm 23:1 says The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. We find God and gain growth by and through His word.

1 commentsKristy I absolutely agree that spending time with God and reading the word is important as a new Christian. Even just reading one scripture and asking God the meaning could be helpful. Learning how to talk to God, knowing he talks back to us and that God can do all things is rich learning. In Matthew 19:26b it says With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible. God is truly amazing!
