COURSE 11 - CHRISTIAN ROOT SYSTEM » What is Necessary to Maintain and Cause Growth as a Christian?

Hope Khalil
Once a person accepts Jesus as Lord, one of the most important things necessary to maintain and cause growth as a Christian is a Christian’s spiritual root system. What do I mean by root system, when speaking of the spiritual aspect of Christianity? Just like a tree, that must absorb nutrients and water to keep the tree thriving and growing, we as Christians, in the spirit, must bear good fruit as well as have strong roots. We must spend time in the Word of God, witnessing and praying. Psalm 1:1-3 has the best description or example of man’s spirituality that will persevere compared to a tree planted in a place in which it will flourish … vs. 3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. We should rejoice in knowing this, but most importantly rejoice in our salvation! Letting others know that we are rejoicing in our salvation is key! Romans 10:9-10 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart, man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation. We must confess that we are saved and lift up the name of Jesus and He will draw all men unto Him! John 12:32. Amen!

Hope it's certainly good to rejoice in the new salvation of a Christian! There is so much for them to learn and know the love of Christ is also important and that God is Love. 1John 4:8 The spiritual root system is key as well digging up the old and getting a new, firm foundation rooted and ground Christ. In Ephesian 3:17 it tells us that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love. We learned from Dr. Riley's teaching that the old roots must be ripped up so that there is clean and fresh soil to start with so that when the seed of the Word of God planted there isn't any contamination. Thank you so much for sharing!

I know the seven things that makes up the foundation of believer are all very important, and it was hard to choose one over the other because they all work together to make a strong root system. 1 John 2:5 really help sum it up for me, keeping his word, to hear it and obey it displays the love we have for the Father. Through the roots being strong like this it causes the fruits to flourish. Jesus was teaching a parable, and he said in John 14:23 If a man loves me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. I looked the word abode up - it means home, God and Jesus will make a home with us he said also in scripture he would never leave us nor forsake us.
