COURSE 9 - HEARING THE VOICE OF GOD » The Importance of hearing God's voice

Paula Bingham
Hearing from the Lord is essential for a believer. Without communication with the Father, we won't know who we are, what to do, when to do it. God has designed us to have a close relationship with him. The Word of God declares that if we draw nigh unto him, He will draw nigh unto us. If we want to get to know a person, we commune with them on a daily basis. The Lord desires the same thing. He desires for us to meet with him in the secret place on a daily basis. There, he will give us the blueprint for our lives.

In addition, obeying the voice of God is just as important. The bible says that if we love Him, we will keep His commandments. Our motivation for obedience should be LOVE. If you love someone, you will not want to hurt them. The Lord gives us His commands because he loves us and cares about us. His commandments are not designed to hurt us or destroy us, but to keep us safe. Obedience allows us to experience the abundant life He has planned for us.

Paula,
Your response was crystal clear about how important it is for us to have communication with the Father. I love how you explained that we were created to commune with Him and using the scripture references you used, to back that up! Also, your answer was relatable to all of us in that we have to spend time with each other in order to get to know each other.... building relationships! I know beyond a shadow of a doubt you commune with the Lord and He with you! God bless you! Hope

Thanks for sharing your thoughts Paula. I love you using the analogy of God providing a blueprint for our lives. For me this makes the concept vividly concrete and real. I also agree that the Lord wants the best for us. This is why He wants to guide us. We can only be guided if we hear and obey.
