COURSE 9 - HEARING THE VOICE OF GOD » What is the importance of Christians hearing and obeying the voice of God?

Tawanna Taborn
The importance of hearing and obeying the voice of God is for Gods direction and understanding. Proverbs 5:5-6 says trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your path. This is so I won’t become lost in my own will and way. Also, so for wisdom Proverbs 3:21-23 My son, let them not depart from your eyes- keep sound wisdom and discretion; so, they will be life to your soul and grace to your neck. Then you will walk safely in your way, and your foot will not stumble.

Tawanna, I agree with you that hearing the voice of God is vital to the believer. Without hearing His voice, we won't know what to do. The bible says in Proverbs 14:12, that there is a way that seemeth right to a man, but the end thereof leads to destruction. When we don't get instruction from God, we may be prone to do our own thing and it can lead to a dangerous end. However, when the Lord speaks, He most time will confirm it out of the mouth of two or three witnesses.

The obedience to God and Hearing his voice is vital to all believer because this is the way God communicate with us about his plans and will for our lives. I like the scripture that you used Proverbs 5:5-6 trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your path. This is an intimate love language to commune with God and God with us to hear him and obey him. He then knows that we trust him and have faith in him, and he can trust us.
