COURSE 9 - HEARING THE VOICE OF GOD » Hearing and Obeying the Voice of God

Vanessa Howell
Listening to God is important because he leads us and guides us to all truth as the body of Christ. We were all born into sin and need the guidance and voice of God every single day. We are many members, but one body and we must walk in unity. In 1Corinthians 12:12 it says for as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ. As we strive to be more like Jesus we must follow in his footsteps because Jesus prayed and obeyed the voice of God. God's instruction is vital to us because he already knows the beginning and the end so listening to his voice is paramount. When we listen to God's instruction and obey him, we become more sensitive to his voice and invites God to use us all the more. Ours and others healing and deliverance is tied to not only His Word but also obeying the voice of God. In Acts 9:17 it talks about the disciple Ananias being sent by the Lord to heal the eyesight of Saul and for him to be filled with the Holy Spirit. Let us all listen and obey the voice of God that we may help one another according to God's will and as he chooses.

It is very important for believers to hear and obey God's voice quickly, if you drag or reasoning within yourself you may talk yourself out of doing what you heard God say do which is the trick of the enemy. Doing what God say do has its reward and disobeying God has consequences. In Acts 9:10-16 a certain disciple at Damascus, named Ananias was given instructions by God to go and find Saul and put his hands on his eyes that he may see. Now Ananias tried to talk God out of this because he has heard of the evil things this man had done to the saints of God. God reassured Ananias that Saul prayed and was a changed man, and that he has work for him to do. God may lead us to minister to people that may have done somethings that may cause us to be fearful, but believers must remember God is with us wherever he may send us and will never leave us.
