Warfare - Synoptic Gospels » Jesus the Wonderful Counselor

Marilyn Betts Robinson
A primary lesson for Christian counselors is we must emulate the unwavering commitment and total obedience to the Father that Christ exemplified in his life. By learning from his example, we can glean invaluable lessons to apply in counseling. Through his frequent, intimate prayers to the Father, Jesus walked in the full authority of God that even the demons recognized, for the Father had given him the Holy Spirit without measure (John 3:34 KJV). for this reason when Jesus was in the presence of demonic oppressions, the demons cried out because of the authority of Jesus. God himself was in Jesus reconciling the world back to himself which is so powerful within itself. We must remain in the Father's presence to receive the same anointing that empowered Christ. According to Mark 9:29 (KJV), to effectively minister deliverance to hurting individuals, it is essential that they we first engaged in prayer and fasting.

As Christian counselors, we must approach our clients with love, just as God is love (1 John 4:7,16 KJV). Jesus' sacrifice of his life for us is a profound demonstration of love that should inspire us to share love with our clients. John 3:16 KJV. As Christian counselors, we must emulate Jesus' compassion and show empathy and care towards our clients, just as the Bible describes in Matthew 14:14 (KJV). As the Bible states in 2 Corinthians 5:18, God has entrusted us with the ministry of reconciliation, just as Jesus reconciled the world. Our role is to help bring healing and wholeness to our hurting clients and whomever we encounter that need our help.

As the Ekklesia called out, we are called to teach the Word and bring deliverance and salvation to the world. Jesus has given us with the same divine authority and power as recorded in Mark 16:17 (KJV). As appointed by Christ (Christos) the Anointed One, we are now the Ambassadors of Christ, commissioned to go throughout the world and tell people about the saving and healing power of Jesus.

Jesus the Wonderful Counselor models how we should guide and support others. By studying His Word and relying on His Spirit, we can learn to compassionately help people through their struggles with sin and suffering.

Amen, As Christian Counselors we must study the life of Jesus to be efficient. Christian Counseling is not just a regular occupation. It is a supernatural assignment from God to help to aid and bring healing, hope, peace, love, and deliverance to souls in the earth. Therefore it is a weighty assignment for us to take seriously through dedication and consecration as led by the HolySpirit. (KJV)
Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke? Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house?
