COURSE 6 - INTRODUCTION TO HERMENEUTICS » Accurate Biblical Interpretation for those who deliver the Gospel

It is very important to have accurate biblical interpretation for those who have been called to deliver the unadulterated truth of the Gospel. It helps them understand and communicate the true meaning of the bible; it is also important to understand what God intended to communicate through his word to his people. In our lesson this week with bishop Areji we learned that one of the importance reasons why Hermeneutics is important, which is the art and science of biblical interpretation.
The bible was written in another language, another culture, in another time, and to another people. We need the translated version in our language to know the true meaning of the scriptures so that preaching and teaching it the way God intended for his word to be understood, obeyed, and lived. The scripture in Proverbs 4:7 in the King James Version says that Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore, get Wisdom: And in all our getting get understanding. This is one of many reasons it's important to know the Interpretations of the bible to give accurate information to those who hear it that they may believe, live by it, and share it with others.

2 commentsSandra, as God's mouthpiece in the earth, we definitely have to communicate the Word of God the way he intended for His people. That is the reason why the scriptures say to study to show thyself approved and not read to show thyself approved. Studying the scriptures will help you go into depth. Studying will give you revelation that you may not have seen from just reading. Studying the Word of God gives you the opportunity to know God, not just know of Him. The scripture says that God is His word.

Paula BinghamThank you Sandra for your reflection and I agree that God intended to communicate through his word to his people. In Deuteronomy 4:2 it says you shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you. We are called to rightly divide the word accurately without taking anything away or adding to it. God is very intelligent and we must adhere to the leading of the Holy Spirit and tell the truth about what the word. Even in translations we must be careful with interpreting what was happening hundreds of years ago and understanding how it relates to today's times. Yes we must have wisdom and also be led by the Holy Spirit.
