COURSE 5 - NEW TESTAMENT SURVEY » Jesus Fulfills The Law

Kristy Hammond
God's word speaks truth that He is the living Savior and that He wants to be in fellowship with those who He created in His image. Isaiah 55:11 says So shall My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me empty, without accomplishing what I desire, and without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it. God's word will fulfill His purpose, the law. In Isaiah 45:23 scripture says I have sworn by myself, the word has gone forth from my mouth in righteousness and will not turn back, that to me every knee will bow, every tongue will swear allegiance. God forgives, redeems, and is the creator. Isaiah 44:21-28 confirms this, highlighting verse 26 which says, confirming the word of His servant and performing the purpose of His messengers. There are many scriptures which confirm who God is and His purpose. God created a perfect world, and created mankind in His image, but when sin entered our world it began broken and we lost genuine fellowship with God. We needed a way to regain this fellowship, thus the word became flesh and dwelt among us (John 1:14) and ultimately died on the cross for our sin. This is the fulfillment of the law.

Kristy you really laid out the fact that God fulfills his word, thank you for that. The Greek word for fulfill is Pleroo which means to perform fully, accomplish, or finish. The meaning of every word in the Bible has its place and Jesus was intentional about using the word fulfill. You are right on point that his word never returns void.
Sandra Lately
In the beginning Jesus was already with God and when the fall of humanity happened, we were separated from God. In Genesis 3:1-22 tell the story of the fall of man. We were separated from God; Jesus came to restore us back to God. This is why he came which was fulfilling the law and bringing salvation to humanity by dying for our sins. We not only be in fellowship with the Father but may have eternal life.
