1-3 BOOK OF ACTS » The Book of Acts

Marilyn Keys
Who is the Apostle and What does the Apostle do? The Apostle is the sent one. The one who expands the Kingdom of God through missionary trips and setting up new churches locally, nationally, internationally, globally. In other words, wherever they are sent by the Holy Ghost that's where they end up: that's where they go. The Acts of the Apostles or really the Acts of the Holy Spirit show the power of God to heal, deliver, and set free for who the son sets free is free indeed. They made it known that they were representatives of Jesus Christ. They did not allow anyone to bow down to them. They were representatives of the Kingdom taught by Christ. They did not speak of themselves. They carried the gospel to educate others of the Kingdom of heaven a Savior named Jesus who sets captives free. They cast out demons. They laid hands on the sick and they recovered. They established the church with Jesus as the head of the church. Matthew 28:18-20 says
18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
I believe that real Apostles are needed today to set-up the true church. The true church of Christ. The true church needs to stand up and the true gospel needs to be spread. There may be two and three churches on one street and no sign of healing. No sign of deliverance within the community. There may be no sign that the Holy Spirit has visited the area. The Apostles imparted the Holy Spirit to the believers in Jesus Christ after the believers were baptized. If the church claims to be the true church and does not operate in the name of Jesus and by the Spirit of God, then it is not the true church. So, yes there is a great need for Apostles in this day and age. I look at Paul and how he was chosen as an Apostle by non-other than Jesus himself to preach the Gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to the Gentiles. Just as Paul was chosen for a certain people, I believe even today that Apostles can be personally chosen by God by His Spirit to set up the true church operating in the Gifts of the Spirit and in love establishing his Kingdom on earth. This sets order in the house of God. One plants (Apostle, Evangelist) and the other waters (Pastor, Teacher) and God gives the increase. Amen.

Sister Keys you made a very valid point (they made it known that they were representatives of Jesus Christ.) As Apostles they should build as Christ did when he walked this earth. Even with the calling there is a greater sacrifice.
