COURSE 2 -STAGES OF GROWTH » The Challenges of Transformation

Tawanna Taborn
In my spiritual growth walk my biggest obstacle to the transformation process were my thoughts. I was unable to stop overthinking, to the point I was making myself anxious. I believe that is a challenge that other believers may have as well to be reminded that renewing of the mind is needed daily. Romans 12:2 KJV tells us, do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Why does the transformation process a challenge for believers? Also, could be out of fear of failure or disappointment and worry. To meditate on these words should bring comfort in the challenging times. For God does not give us a spirit of fear but power and love and of sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7 as well as Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your request be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all the understanding will guard your heart and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7 KJV

Tawanna, I totally agree with you, that our thoughts get in the way of us transforming as Jesus intended for us to transform. It is a challenge for all of us, you are not alone! I too pray and ask the Holy Spirit to bring back to remembrance, the scriptures about the renewing of the mind, as you posted Romans 12:2 KJV. This is a key verse to read and ask for the help when the struggle gets real! Naturally we all resist change and few of us like change, especially the way we think. But God! He will send the Holy Spirit to strengthen, guide and help nurture us during the process, of transformation. I am so thankful for you and your insight that you shared in your post! My prayer for you an all of my siters in Christ is, Holy Spirit, help us to be more open to what you want us to know, learn, and experience as we grow, as God has intended while we are in the transformational stage of our faith journey! In Jesus Name. Amen (selah - so be it)

Tawanna this is a reflective post. I believe anxiety, fear, and constant worry is something we all struggle with. I remind myself often of who God says I am, but those thoughts can still creep up. The renewing of the mind is definitely a daily process. When I think of the word transformed I am always reminded of the visual image of transformers and how they can completely change forms.

I understand the obstacle of thoughts, the transformation was a challenge but the scripture Philippians 4:6 helps us so we will not be anxious for nothing but in everything with prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, make our request known unto God. I can truly say with God on our side we have overcome and overcoming every day. With Romans 12:2 it does tell us; And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. You are right meditation on the word of God helps with all of this.
