1-1 CHURCH HISTORY » The History of the Church

Penny Sprigs-Smith
In face of persecution, God is still in control and his plans with the church is going forth. After Jesus came, died, and rose on the third day, the Holy Spirit came. Jesus said in John 14:26, but the comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. Once an individual is drawn by the father (John 6:44), then the Holy Spirit led and guides that individual. Once the Holy Spirit is down on the inside, that individual gains boldness to walk, talk, and stand for the things of God. For example, even in the midst of threats against Paul's life he still was teaching the word of God (Acts 23:12) and there were others. We are the new generation and as you can see the gospel is still going forth, because in Mathew 16:18, Jesus stated And I say unto thee, That thou are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

God is always in control. We just have to be willing to hear him and lean to his way and not our own. Yes things will come against us but all of our help comes from the Lord. That is the way God has made it to be and that is the way we know that our Father is all that we need.

Amen sister Penny. We have been given the Holy Spirit and the scripture tells us He will dwell with us forever. (John 14:16) The Holy Spirit will guide us in all truth and tell us what He hears and the things to come according to John 16:13.
As children and believers of Jesus Christ in modern day church we must stand in faith knowing that as He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. (Hebrews 13:8) That tells me, if Jesus is the same, unchanging, He being the Living Word, the Word of God doesn’t change, so therefore as He has done, we continue to do, as it is written, even greater. John 14:12
