COURSE 1 - FOUNDATIONS OF BIBLICAL STUDIES » The Importance of a relationship with Holy Spirit to Interpret Scriptures

Sandra Lately
A relationship with Holy Spirit is very important to believers, He leads us, teaches us and guides us into all truths and bring all things back to our remembrance, according to John 14:26. There are other names that Holy Spirit is called, one is Comforter which is being interpret alongside to help. This helps believers know that it may seem that we are alone at times, but we are not. The scripture says in John 14:17 that Holy Spirit dwells with us and shall be in us. Holy Spirit interprets the word of God and gives us clear understanding of what God is saying through his word.

Sandra, I agree that Holy Spirit is our helper. The Greek word for Holy Spirit is Parakletos, which means one who is called to one’s side, especially to help. It also means an intercessor, an assistant, or one who pleads the cause of another before a judge. Therefore, the role of the Holy Spirit is all-encompassing. He is our Comforter, Counselor, Helper, Advocate, Intercessor, Strengthener, and Standby.

It is a relief to know that we do not have to labor through life because the Lord has given us Holy Spirit who is always with us, and our victory is secure in Him!

Sandra, I totally agree, that having a relationship with the Holy Spirit is very important to all who believe in Christ Jesus. Also, the way you included many of the facets of the Holy Spirit was truly powerful! You also reminded me that we are not alone in the times we need a comforter, and when we need direction, the Holy Spirit will lead us! Knowing He is with us in all things, gives me peace of mind. The scripture you mentioned, John 14:17 confirms he dwells with us and will be with us! God bless you!

Sandra, you summarized the Holy Spirit is the best teacher and will guide us in biblical truths very well. Like you said the Holy Spirit will give us clear understanding of what God is saying through his word. Thats why I like 1John 2:27 But the anointing which you have received from him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you, but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him NKJ.
