Writing Basics » The Importance of Understanding Writing and Grammar In Ministry

Scriptures throughout the Bible prove how GOD instructs man throughout His written Word. Therefore, I believe it’s important to understand both writing and grammar if you’re a minister of the gospel. Any leader or minister should be able to speak and write in a way listeners can understand. If speech is slurred or the minister is having difficulty reading, that could bring about confusion to the audience, and we know GOD is not the author of confusion (1 Corinthians 14:33). Today with modern technology, we have all the tools we need to help check for spelling and grammar errors. This is a great asset when preparing sermons and messages. Our goal as ministers of the gospel is to spread the good news of Christ and reach the lost. This is why understanding writing and grammar is so important because it helps us to better organize our thoughts and ideas, so our message is clear and easy to follow. If our message is clear and easy to understand, ministers will be more effective and win more souls to the Kingdom of GOD.

1 commentsStar I agree with you about difficulty reading can bring confusion. I remember some years ago a minister was up teaching Sunday school and the English was broken and they stumbled over words. I didn't have a clear understanding and I was disengaged. At first I thought it was because they didn't study, but I later found out that they had trouble reading. I agree we have a lot of tools now to help with spell check and etc. Even with our Microsoft office tools their are things built in to help with punctuation and spelling.
