Avis Potter
In the book of Joshua, defeating Jericho was an event that portrayed the power of faith and God's intervention in the face of overwhelming challenges. Joshua 6:1-5 says the Lord instructs Joshua with an unconventional strategy to conquer Jericho: Now the gates of Jericho were securely barred because of the Israelites. No one went out, and no one came in. Then the Lord said to Joshua, 'See, I have delivered Jericho into your hands, along with its king and its fighting men. March around the city once with all the armed men. Do this for six days. Have seven priests carry trumpets of rams' horns in front of the ark. On the seventh day, march around the city seven times, with the priests blowing the trumpets. When you hear them sound a long blast on the trumpets, have the whole army give a loud shout; then the wall of the city will collapse, and the army will go up, everyone straight in.'

This took great obedience and faith from the Israelites to follow the instructions Joshua received from God, despite the unconventional nature of God's strategy. Obeying God's instructions led to triumph, Joshua 6:20. This significant event highlights the importance of trusting and obeying God's guidance even when you face the most challenging obstacles. This act of obedience served as a precursor to their victory of entering the promise land and it highlights the necessity of having an unwavering belief in God's plan, even when it may seem unusual or even challenging.
