When Joseph was governor of Egypt, there was a famine in all of Egypt and surrounding areas. There was very little crop and wild life. However, the Lord had given the king a dream of 7 years of fat cattle, 7 years of full cornstalks and 7 years of lean cattle, 7 years of barren cornstalk. The Lord gave Joseph the interpretation of the dream as 7 years the land would be plenteous following those years would be 7 years of a drastic famine. God gave Joseph the wisdom the put up food during the 7 years that could sustain the people through the 7 years of famine. Joseph did as God instructed him. Joseph was in charge of rationalizing the food for the entire nation. Genesis 39:6 And he left all that he had in Joseph’s hand; and he knew not ought he had, save the bread which he did eat. And Jospeh was a goodly person, and well favored. The king solely trusted Joseph with the role of stewardship in Egypt.
When Jacob became low on food, he sent his sons to Egypt to get food from the governor (Joseph). Joseph, but food was asked about the welfare of his brother Benjamin and his father. He gave them double in their bags and he restored their money as well. I want to pint out that currency, silver and gold wasn’t scare, but food was. Joseph had the major task of securing, balancing and sustaining the source of food for an entire nation, yet be concern with the welfare of the people. He eventually sent for the family. Gave them land and plenty source of food so they would be sustained throughout the famine.
It is important for leaders of organization to be good stewards. This requires the efficient management of all resources in their possession as well as looking forward, being aware of the current state of the world economy, the welfare of the people and the level of stability in the organization. Being a good steward comes with an awareness of the current state of man as well as the current state of the resources. Luke 12:42 And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season?
