DISCUSSION QUESTION

"But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him". Hebrews 11:6 reveals how faith is so important that it is impossible to please God without it. What would you say is the greatest area, among believers, where faith is lacking?

5-1 DEMONOLOGY » Why trust Jesus when they are not sure that the supernatural realm exists?

Vanessa Howell
The existence of the earth and all we know about it is supernatural. In Genesis 1:1 it says that God created the heavens and the earth. I remember when I used to be an unbeliever and really knew nothing about Jesus, only what I had heard, that Christians were hypocrites. After my divorce at the age of 34 I was so broken and my felt like my literal soul had been shattered down to my core. None of the African rituals and praying to the creator helped me in my downward spiral. It felt like I was starting all over again. Unbelievers will call on the name of other gods to do things that history has shown us that only God can do. I remember the first time a guy began to tell me about Jesus and all he was right after my 35th birthday. He was telling how God could turn my life around. I learned that God is love and what a rhema word meant. This was foreign to me but I was at such a rock bottom place that it felt like water landing on bones and light in a super dark place. I began to have hours long Bible studies with this person because I was curious and wanted to turn my life around and was open to even the possibility of something better. I began to get encouraged and started speaking life to myself and over my situation. I learned that God created all things but He wasn't seen, He was supernatural. I remember trying to wrap my mind around Jesus being born a man that actually walked this earth and the guy showed me in the Bible how Jesus died on the cross for my sins. I was open to the possibility and began to believe the more I read the Word of God. My life did get better, much better. I can honestly say that doing the other rituals never made me feel the way I do today, didn't transform my life like the Word does. Who does that credit go to? My experience was that it wasn't science, it was a real supernatural experience that cannot be explained away by anything else.

One thing that really stood out to me was the first commandment of the law in Matthew 22:37-39 is to Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. Love makes the difference and since God is love even though I cannot see Him he is still there because I felt it. How can we give and receive love from someone we've never seen? It is a supernatural kind of love, God is real. Just like He created the heavens and the earth, He created us and all of our emotions and us as human beings. I know that I did not create myself and on down through my generations. Other gods/deity's have perished, only God is the true living God because He dwells on the inside of each one of us. Spiritually my heart and my soul was healed, it didn't happen overnight it was based on my faith and willingness to let some things go; to trust in God. John 1:12 tells us that as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name. I am a believer and I'm so grateful to have had that experience.
