DISCUSSION QUESTION

"But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him". Hebrews 11:6 reveals how faith is so important that it is impossible to please God without it. What would you say is the greatest area, among believers, where faith is lacking?

One story in Joshua that stands out to me is when Israel tried to take the city of Ai. After their big win at Jericho, they thought Ai would be easy. But they lost the battle. Joshua 7:5 says, the men of Ai struck down about thirty-six of their men... so the hearts of the people melted and became like water.

The reason? A man named Achan had disobeyed God. Even though God told Israel not to take anything from Jericho, Achan secretly took some of the devoted things and hid them in his tent (Joshua 7:1, 20-21). Because of this, God wasn’t with Israel in the fight. When Joshua asked God why they lost, God said in Joshua 7:11, Israel has sinned; they have violated my covenant.

After Achan’s sin was found out and dealt with, God helped Israel win the next time they attacked Ai (Joshua 8:1-25). This story stands out to me because it shows how important it is to listen to God and do what He says. When Israel obeyed, God was with them. When they didn’t, things went wrong. It’s a simple but strong lesson about obedience.

This is good because it shows how being obedient to God is important. You can be destined to win but disobeying God can be a hinderance.
