DISCUSSION QUESTION

"But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him". Hebrews 11:6 reveals how faith is so important that it is impossible to please God without it. What would you say is the greatest area, among believers, where faith is lacking?

Preparation of the Minister » Ultimate Preparation Empowered Peter -Preach w/ Authority -The Holy Spirit on Day of Pentecost

Hope Khalil
One key event that sparked a transformation in Peter between his denial of Jesus and his sermon on the Day of Pentecost was the resurrection of Christ and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. After Peter denied Jesus three times (Luke 22:54-62), he was broken and ashamed, but Jesus, in His grace, restored him after the resurrection. In John 21:15-17, Jesus reaffirmed Peter’s calling by asking him three times, Do you love me? and then commanding him to feed His sheep. This personal restoration not only healed Peter’s failure but placed him, once again, as a leader among the disciples. This gave Peter the confidence and boldness to step- back into his role as a witness for Jesus Christ.
The ultimate preparation that empowered Peter to preach with authority was the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. Before His ascension, Jesus told His disciples to wait for the Holy Spirit, saying, But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses (Acts 1:8). When the Holy Spirit came as a rushing mighty wind (Acts 2), Peter, filled with the divine power of the Holy Spirit, stood up and preached a sermon that led to the salvation of about 3,000 people (Acts 2:41). The Holy Spirit caused a great shift in Peter’s ministry. He became more bold and more effective in ministry. His personal restoration was a piece of, this effectiveness increase, but not the vital component of his ministry's effectiveness, it was the fact that he was now operating under the anointing and power of the Holy Spirit! Thank God for His grace and mercy, to allow us to step †back into the role He has called us to when we stumble and fall. I have been there, and I know what it means to come back to the throne and ask for forgiveness /grace upon my life, to come back to the place of being reinstated, less of me and what I want but more of God and what He wants! I believe we have all been right where Peter found himself and what we had to do to return to the Father. My prayer for all of us is God keep us humble in the Spirit, less of who we are but more of You oh God, for the people that do not yet know You and Your Kingdom. Amen

This is a good read Hope! There are times in my life that I have definitely fallen from grace, but the Lord restored me and put me back into place. The Scripture says in I Peter 5:10, And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. The Lord is so faithful! Oftentimes, He will allow us to fall only to realize our dependency on Him; which is why He sent the Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit, the third person of the trinity is our guide and standby. If you would allow her, she will stand by you and give you direction, insight and guidance on what we need to do; however, she must be listened to. As long as Peter listened to Holy Spirit, He operated powerfully in the earth.

Hope, thank you for sharing your thoughts. I also believe that John 21:15-17 does show a pivotal moment for Peter. God reassures him that the purpose He has given is still valid even after his mistakes. This is big and shows the significance of God's grace.
