DISCUSSION QUESTION

"But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him". Hebrews 11:6 reveals how faith is so important that it is impossible to please God without it. What would you say is the greatest area, among believers, where faith is lacking?

COURSE 10 - PRINCIPLES OF FAITH » The greatest area where faith is lacking.

Paula Bingham
In my opinion, finance is the greatest area where faith is lacking. It is oftentimes easy to trust God when finances are plenteous; however, when finances are low, it can be very challenging. Our lack of faith becomes apparent when thoughts of not having enough or losing everything invades our minds. That is when we must stand on God's word, continue to meditate on it, and obey in order to get results.

One person in the bible that struggled with believing God for her finances was a widow woman who lived in Zarephath. At the time, the town was experiencing a drought. Her and her son only had a limited amount of oil and flour to make cake. Because the woman didn't see any provision, she decided that her and her son would eat the last meal and then die. It was not until Elijah challenged her faith by asking her to give him the meal first that she truly experienced a miracle. For her obedience, God provided more than enough for her and her son.

Another widower who struggled financially in the bible is found in 2 Kings chapter 4. This woman's husband died, leaving her with lots of debt. If she did not pay the debt, the creditor promised to come and make her two sons' slaves. Again, this woman only had a little oil in her home. The prophet Elisha challenged her faith by instructing her to go and borrow vessels from everywhere. After borrowing the vessels, she was to come home, close the door and pour the oil until the vessels were full. The money that she would receive from the vessels would pay her debt. Again, we see that the Lord will sometimes challenge our faith by using the little we have to give us a miracle. Whenever you are experiencing financial struggle, the bible says to give, and it shall be given unto you, good measure, pressed down and shaken together shall men give unto your bossom. Obeying God when you are in a deficit financially will always yield positive results if you trust him with the little you have.

Hallelujah Paula! I agree finances can be a troubling area for believers who do not believe in the multiplication of finances from our almighty God! I am reminded of Philippians 4:19 And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. There is nothing that God cannot do but we must believe that He can and they he is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him. Having faith and believing is key as you have referenced several instances in the Bible that he did just that! Jehovah Jireh he is our provider!
