DISCUSSION QUESTION

"But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him". Hebrews 11:6 reveals how faith is so important that it is impossible to please God without it. What would you say is the greatest area, among believers, where faith is lacking?

Old Testament Warfare » Sins & Opening Demonic Doors

Yashica Butler
Scripture tells us in Proverbs 26:2 that a curse cannot come without cause. We also know that the enemy must have legal rights. There are consequences for unrepented sin and there are also specific lifestyles, behaviors, or practices that may open the door to demonic spirits which may lead to mental trauma or distress. Drug and alcohol addiction is a prime example. After using either drugs or alcohol for a long period of time, both can cause mental trauma or distress. Both can also lead to a lifetime of illnesses. Living a promiscuous lifestyle can also open up the door to demonic spirits. First Corinthians 6:18 NLT states, Run from sexual sin! No other sin so clearly affects the body as this one does. For sexual immorality is a sin against your own body. We also know that sexual immorality causes soul ties according to 1 Corinthians 6:16 When a man joins to a prostitute he becomes one with her, and the two are united. Through sexual sin the two become one and their souls tie. This can cause them both to have to deal with demonic influences that their partner was being influenced about. The lifestyle and practices of witchcraft and satanism opens many doors to demonic influences. Opening oneself up to demonic practices such as these two is a very dangerous path to be on because these individuals are in many cases knowingly and purposely opening demonic doors that they may or may not be aware of. They are voluntarily giving the enemy legal rights to their full being. Witchcraft, satanism, and sexual sins can all lead to mental illness, drug or alcohol abuse, suicidal thoughts, schizophrenia, bipolar diesease, and more. We are in a spiritual warfare. The enemy is after the minds of God's people. When our minds are not sober and our sins are not sincerely repented of, the enemy seeks and finds points of entry in our lives. We must quickly turn from our sins, repent, and seek deliverance if necessary. In John 5:14 when Jesus heals the man by the pool of Bethesda, He tells him to go and sin no more unless something worse comes upon him. This lets us know that we must truly repent by turning away from sin or suffer the consequences of having something worse come upon us.

Yashica, this post was so good! You are right sexual immorality open up the door for so many things. We open the door to entanglements, diseases, soul ties etc. We have to know that when we lay down with a person we are taken on their issues along with the issues of others that they have been with. Now people wonder why they walking around with all of these issues. One day you have joy and then the next day you are depressed.

Yashica,

The statement, The enemy is after the minds of God's people I could not agree with that more. Yeilding to sin opens the door for a curse to take hold, allowing the devil to devour God's people. The devil relentlessly seeks to steal, kill, and destroy through any means available. Those who practice sin harbor a carnal mindset, which is hostile to God and defiant of His law. For a carnal mindset/lifestyle leads to death, but a spiritual mindset brings life and peace Romans 8:5-8 (KJV). Jesus will keep those in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on him, Isaiah 26:3 (KJV). Sin opens the door for us to transgress against God's laws. We must submit to God and resist the devil to not perform the deeds of the flesh. Galatians 5:16 (KJV). Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. Engaging in immoral behaviors such as adultery, fornication, idolatry, and witchcraft can open an individual to demonic influences and mental health problems. Whosoever commit sin is a servant of sin. John 8:34 (KJV). As you stated, we must quickly turn from our sins, repent, and seek deliverance, as the Bible instructs. 1 John 1:9 reminds us that if we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
