I believe the true work of the Evangelist is to spread the Gospel in order to make disciples. The bible says in Mathew 28:16, Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. This is not a request, but a command. The Lord commands for us to get His word out so the gospel can spread throughout the world. And if we love God, as the scripture says in John 14:15, then we will keep His commands. Obedience is an expression of love and devotion. Our obedience isn’t just for His sake, but also for ours. We grow as followers of Jesus by living lives of obedience to His commandments.
The Great Commision is also how the Kingdom grows. By going into the world to share the message of Jesus, we allow all people to experience repentance and faith. As people experience the life-changing impact of Jesus’ ministry and take the Great Commission seriously, the gospel spreads dramatically. Matthew 24:14 says, And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
