COURSE 16 - GIFTS OF THE FATHER » Gifts Least Utilized

The gift that I believe is the least important would-be exhortation, this means to encourage or urging someone to do something or challenge someone to live a righteous life. This can also be used to encourage spiritual growth. in Hebrews 3:13 it states Christians should exhort each other to live a righteous life. This may be a problem for some people who are shy, or someone who thinks they still learning and may not know enough to exhort someone else. But that's where we should draw our strength from. We all are still growing still learning no one person know it all. Exhortation is also known as the gift of encouragement.
This gift is used by preachers according to Luke 3:18 and by speakers according to Acts 27:22 but not many members doing exhortations. Some people may feel out of place because things maybe happening in their own lives, I have experience in my life that's the best time to encourage someone else because you can relate.

2 commentsMrs. Sandra this motivational gift is absolutely necessary! If we are made in the image and likeness of Christ and He loves to be exhorted, then there is a need for us to be exhorted too. Oftentimes people just need a boost of encouragement. Today's world is full of criticism, negativity, jealousy and envy. We need people in the body of Christ that can use their mouths to boost people instead of tear them down. Scripture says in 1 Thessalonians 5:11, Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing. It says in Ephesians 4: 29 to let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.

Paula BinghamMrs. Sandra you make a good point of the gift of exhortation when you feel you are unsure of a Biblical standpoint of a subject you may not be so comfortable to share much or even encourage due to how the person may respond. But I like how you say we should draw our strength from the spiritual gift of the Father and know that we are still growing because no one knows everything this is encouraging. Thanks for sharing.
