The altar was made of acacia wood covered with bronze. While researching the importance of acacia wood it stated that the type of wood is strong and resistant to decay. Acts 13:34-35, states, God raised him from the dead so that he will never be subject to decay. As God has said, ‘I will give you the holy and sure blessings promised to David.’ So, it is also stated elsewhere: You will not let your holy one see decay’ (NIV).
The altar being covered with bronze. The bronze provides protection and covering to the wood from the fire and heat as Jesus covers us. Hebrews 12:29 says for our God is a consuming fire. The horns on all four corners reminds me all corners of the earth and how Jesus sacrificed his life for the world to be saved. John 3:16, For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
The altar’s length and width measured five cubits. The number 5 symbolize grace as God has given us to obtain salvation. Since Jesus sacrificed His life, Hebrews 4:16 informs- Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. The altar height is three cubits pointing to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Exodus 27:3 describes that there will be pans to remove the ashes, just as Jesus removes our sins away. There were poles for carrying the alter and moving it to different location. Jesus will come to you when you repent. God is always everywhere.
