Response to Leadership » The Eye of the Beholder Part 2

Sabrina Williams
Servanthood is the ultimate test to determine if we are ready to be promoted. God told Israel in Deuteronomy 8:2 that He does things to humble us, prove us, to know what's in our heart and to know whether we will keep His commandments or not. God is watching. Proverbs 15:3 says that his eyes are in every place beholding the evil and the good. This includes His eyes watching our heart. In Deuteronomy 8:3, God further tells Israel that He humbled them by suffering them to hunger then feeding them with manna. This is the original scripture that says man shall not live by bread only. I believe we must be found obedient in the small matters or in another person's ministry for God to fully trust us with the totality of the call to leadership. In Philippians 2, the bible says Jesus was obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. In my opinion this is referencing two separate deaths. The death and denial of self is the first death (Matthew 16:24). Then the death that led to his ascension (Luke 23:46-47). In order to enter into leadership, we must be able to serve and be obedient as the Lord leads. Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart; With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men: - Ephesians 6:6-7

I love the portion of your comment when you referenced the heart. Ephesians 6:6-7. A person can serve out of compliance or grudgingly. This type of serving is rarely rewarded. Instead our hearts must be on the right posture as we serve. A poor example
of this is Martha and Mary in the book of Luke. Luke 10:38-42 40 But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.
41 ¶ And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things. She was busy complaining about serving alone. Her heart was on the wrong place.
