I believe that our first ministry is to our family at home. How can I go and serve others and my family at home is not in ordered or cared for. I believe our family seeing how we care for others but not them could have a sense resentment toward the ministry. The part that stuck out to me the most was talking about adult children that we can't be passive when parenting and continue to be intentional with open opportunities to share Gods love and promise along with prayer. His word does say faith ...

2 commentsThe disadvantage of prioritizing ministerial duties before your natural family is that the family may develop feelings of abandonment and rejection from the ministerial worker. Growing up as a preacher's kid, my stepdad always made time for my sister and I; never-the-less, many of my PK friends felt abandoned by their parents in the ministry. According to them, they felt they could not talk to them, that they were not important and that their parents cared more about the people in the church. Ti...

2 commentsThis video resonated with me in a deep way. I have been at my current job for the last three years and one of the things that I learned how to adequately apply is work/life balance. Previously, I would be so concerned with getting the work done, but it never was and I found myself tired and always giving my family the meager fumes I had left. My first priority after God was to my family and they were getting the scraps. I Timothy 5:8 says But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and esp...

2 commentsIt is very important to prioritize and come up with a balance with your family and ministerial duties. We are called to our family first, we are the first teachers our children will have, that is natural and spiritual. In Proverbs 22:6 says train up a child in the way he shall go and when he is old, he will not depart from it. I know the calling God has on our lives are very important, but we still need to ask Holy Spirit to guide us and teach us how to balance all that God has for us to do. Thi...

2 commentsPrioritizing ministerial duties over the natural responsibilities of our families can lead to neglect and an imbalance for each family member. The Bible makes it clear that caring for one's family is a primary responsibility. In 1Timothy 5:8, Paul states, But if any provide not for his own, and especially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel. This verse emphasizes that neglecting one's family contradicts the faith we profess. Additionally, in 1 Timot...

2 commentsThe Bible says that we must first have our own house in order before we should minister to others. This is reflected in 1 Timothy 3:4-5 which states one who rules his own house well, having his children in submission with all reverence (for if a man does not know how to rule his own house, how will he take care of the church of God?). Our family is our very first ministry and not honoring our them could create discord, heart and faith issues according to the videos of this lesson. It can als...
